Privacy Mantra seems to work and has in any case speeded up our system.
We access it regularly in the task bar and just hit "Clean".
Presto.

Glitch in Adobe Reader 7 Error message 0x2d864aa2

I recently updated to Adobe Reader 7 and got the following error messages when trying to download a .pdf file from the internet (this appeared to apply to larger files since some smaller .pdf files were downloaded without problem):

"The instruction at "0x2d864aa2" referenced memory at "0x00000008". The
memory could not be "read".

or (in German)

"Die Anweisung in "0x2d864aa2" verweist auf Speicher in "0x00000008". Der Vorgang "read" konnte nicht auf dem Speicher durchgeführt werden."

This error did not (and apparently does not) occur under previous Adobe Reader versions.

The solution is found here where it is suggested that one should uncheck the Edit/Preferences box in Adobe Reader that reads "Display PDF in browser".

After removing the check, the PDF files download normally - but IN THE BROWSER, even though this feature was now theoretically disabled.

Go figure.
