About

LawPundit is written by Andis Kaulins (pronounced Collins) a joint EU and USA citizen, born in Germany in 1946, J.D. Stanford University Law School 1971.

Drafted into the military out of law school, Kaulins had a perfect score (all questions answered correctly) on the former GCT test, taken by ca. 2 million people. One other had done the same: Clark Clifford we were told, but it does not have to be true, and we have no way to check. Pundits differ on whether that test measured "intelligence" or "general competency" or "anything". Maybe some of us are just good at taking tests.... Life has many things of importance that are not necessarily tested by examinations. Rather, life itself is the test.

Kaulins is an alumnus summer and full associate of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison, an international law firm headquartered in New York City. As of the year 2016, all three of the ladies on the U.S. Supreme Court (Justices Ginsburg, Sotomayor and Kagan) were former Paul, Weiss (summer) associates.

Kaulins is a former FFA Law Lecturer in Anglo-American Law, University of Trier, Germany and is the author of several books on law, the history of civilization, ancient scripts and languages, as well as megalithic cultures, including the interpretation of ancient anthropomorphic figures cut into stone. Anthropomorphic design is at the cutting edge of modern developments.

The academic community does not pay much attention to what we write because it challenges mainstream dogma. Nevertheless, enough bright young minds will ultimately surface, understand and continue our work, so we proceed merrily along our way as if the world were full of Clark Cliffords....

Our sport is golf. Kaulins, the LawPundit, won the men's golf club championship at the Mosel Golf Club in Cochem, Germany, 2008, at age 61.

The above photograph at Cochem Golf by Christian Hoffman shows from the left after the final round, the champions holding their trophies: the women's champion, the men's senior champion, the junior champion, the women's senior champion, and I am at the far right as the men's champion. Sorry for the "non-golf" garb but we had rain and high winds and it was rough out there.

Today, at 6 feet tall and weighing in at about 210, I am known here and there for my long drives, occasionally outdriving top young players, even though I turned 68 in December, 2014. I have always been interested in sports and was pretty good at all of them, but as I had skipped the 1st grade in school, I was always a year younger and smaller than most of my classmates. I grew a lot in my senior year in high school, too late for any varsity sports except for golf, and that has remained my sport ever since. The 1964 Lincoln High School golf team of which I was a member was the Class A State Golf Champion and the entire team was inducted into the LHS Athletic Hall of Fame in October 2012. But we all have Charlie Borner, the State Championship medalist, to thank for that.

I was unable to attend the ceremonies but the rest of the team was there.
My brother Arv Kaulins represented the Kaulins family in his own right as a member of the Lincoln High School 1967 Class A State Golf Championship team that was inducted into the LHS Athletic Hall of Fame at the same time:

Nebraska State Golf Champions
The photograph directly above from the JournalStar in Lincoln, Nebraska shows two Nebraska State Golf Championship Teams, the Class of 1964 in the back row (Dick Beechner, coach, and players Jerry Rockwell, Dennis Bradshaw, Galen Ullstrom, Allen Bettin, Charles Borner, Sam Beechner and George Snider), and the Class of 1967 in the front row: Bonnie Kuklin (daughter of then coach Harry Kuklin), Mike McGuire, Bob Dann, Arveds Kaulins, Tim Knopp and Lance Gloe.

The photograph directly left is a clipping from the Lincoln High School newspaper with a photo of the 1964 championship team. I am missing in the top photograph and Jerry Rockwell is missing from the bottom one which pictures (bottom left to right) - Andis Kaulins, George Snider, Charles Borner (State Championship medalist, and in 1970 Nebraska Match Play Champion, now a golf pro), Dennis Bradshaw (later a PGA management graduate), Galen Ullstrom (later a lawyer and insurance executive), and Sam Beechner (later a successful investor). The golf coach, Dick Beechner, is not pictured but see Nebraska High School Sports Hall of Fame where Dick was  the Executive Director.

Andis Kaulins, Hole in One, June 18, 1963. It was my grandfather's birthday. This is the ball I used. I was 16 then and played this ball for maybe 10 rounds - you could still cut the ball then. The witnesses in my foursome were Lowell Berg (retired former head of probably the leading architectural firm in Lincoln, Nebraska, and past President of the Rotary Club), Roger Yant and Mike Ley (who in 1972 was Nebraska Match Play Champion). You could send the ball in to Titleist (Acushnet) and have them stamp your name and date on it, which I did.
